Cade's and Con's World:
Feeding the Ducks at the
Park Avenue Pond

Shoot Date:
August 2008

The pond on Park Avenue is only a few blocks away.  I first ran across by taking a wrong turn and coming unexpectedly to a sign beside the road that read 'Duck Crossing'.  And suddenly there it was--water in the middle of an ordinary neighborhood!

We traveled the path along the back of the pond, taking our stale bread pieces in a bag with us.  It didn't take long for the ducks to spot us.

And here they come, both ducks and geese!

Con gets ready with a handful of bread.  (Unfortunately for the ducks, he often finds a piece he thinks will be tasty and eats it himself.)

Watching the ducks and geese.  This was Con's first time feeding them, though it's now become a happy routine, one I've enjoyed continuing because my own grandmother used to take me to feed the ducks in Golden Gate Park (San Francisco) when I was little.

Taking a careful look...

... And a goose looks hopefully back, hoping for a few more crusts of bread.
