While waiting for Paul at the range one hot day, we decided to go a little farther out the road, and ended up at Shotgun Creek, a county park.

In the shade, there are always big slugs, which can be fascinating.

The big surprise, though, was having the trail suddenly open into this great little area where the creek had been dammed up for swimming.

Lots of people were there with kids.  And there was a nice sandy beach area.

Whee!  It's cold... but fun!

And on the way home, there was another covered bridge to explore.
