To get to the playground, we take the bike path... along with dozens of other people out in the good weather. Here's a view of the river along the way. |
| Riverplay, one of Eugene's newest playgrounds. It's got many, many innovative activities, all of them created around the theme of the town's pioneer past. The playground sits above the river and bike path, quiet with long stretches of trees and lawn. You can also hike up Skinner Butte, seen at right. |

Con tries his hand at pumping water, which turned out to be his favorite activity. The water flows down a trough and turns the mill wheel at the lower right of the picture. There are a number of opportunities for playing with water. |
| Jenny and Con work the hand-crank on the 'ferry', which sends a small car from one side of the 'river' to the other. |

The stagecoach is a clever historical version of a seesaw. Four shock-absorbers provide a ride that dips forward and back, giving an idea of what travel might have been like in the early settlement days of the mid-1800s... with a little current-day fun added, of course. |
| On the way home, we stopped where the river bends to watch white geese feeding on the lawn, while adult Canada Geese led their half-grown goslings down to the water's edge for a swim. |
