Near the trailhead, the creek levels out, forming the occasional quiet pool.

All along the sides of the trail, tender plants are springing up in varying shades of
green.  Notice the different shapes and textures, nature's variation on a theme.

You don't have to go far to start seeing falls.  Many trees, like the large, moss-
covered ones at the center top of the picture, still haven't leafed out.
