Bike path!

Shoot Date: 7-26-2006

Shady spot behind the rose garden where you can sit on the lawn, or on a bench, and watch the river flow past.

Where the river turns, ducks and geese gather.  In the background you can see one of Eugene's many pedestrian/bike bridges across the river.  Much nicer for walkers, strollers and pedalers than having to share the quiet scenery with cars.

Not long after I arrived, all the geese that had been at the water's edge started a slow and gradual march in my direction.  Remembering stories about ill-tempered geese, I was relieved to watch them pass by right next to me as they made their way up the bank.

Blackberries grow everywhere in western Oregon.  Any piece of land that isn't being cultivated will soon be overrun by these thorny plants.  Luckily they have delicious berries, and are so prevalent that anyone who wants some should be able to pick all they want.  I found these ripening beside the bike path.
