The constant flux of the tides...

marks the minutes and hours of beach time, changing the landscape and the experience of the beach itself. The rock featured in the photographs below may be completely submerged in the high tide that accompanies the full moon, or stand over seven feet tall, allowing its dense covering of marine life to be examined from any side.

At early morning high tide, waves crash into the cove's
volcanic rock formations and foam coats the beach.

The submarine-shaped formation our family has come
to know as Alex's rock (also visible in the very center
of the picture above) is blasted by the incoming tide.
